Why a 20 A breaker is not automatically a replacement for another 20 A breaker

What does DIN rail mean?

What does mini rail / dual mount mean?

“Samite” is a long-standing market term used by many South African buyers and tradespeople for certain older-style breaker/DB formats. Because the word is used inconsistently across brands and sellers, Whitehouse should treat it as a search term rather than a full technical specification. The safer customer message is: bring the model, brand, clear photograph and dimensions of the existing DB or breaker.
Never up-rate a breaker to stop tripping
A circuit breaker protects conductors and equipment against overload and short-circuit conditions. If a breaker trips repeatedly, fitting a higher current rating without verifying conductor size, load, fault condition and circuit design can remove part of that protection. - Photograph the entire DB with the cover open only if it can be done safely without exposing live parts; otherwise photograph the external labels.
- Record the existing breaker brand and model.
- Record poles, current rating, voltage markings, interrupting capacity and any curve/type markings.
- Check the mounting rail and front cover / escutcheon format.
- Confirm whether the device is a circuit breaker, earth-leakage unit, RCBO, isolator or another device — similar-looking products do different jobs.

Are DIN and Samite breakers interchangeable?
