What a ceiling fan actually does
A fan moves air. When air passes over skin, it can increase convective heat transfer and help sweat evaporate. That changes how hot a person feels even when the room thermometer barely changes. This is why “fan cooling” and “air-conditioner cooling” are not the same process.

How to match a fan to a room
Start with the manufacturer’s room-size and clearance guidance. A large blade span in a tiny room can look and feel disproportionate, while an undersized fan may not move enough air through a large open-plan space. Where the manufacturer publishes airflow — often in m³/h, m³/min or CFM — that is more informative than diameter alone.
Also check ceiling height and mounting system. A fan needs adequate clearance from walls, cupboards, beams and other obstructions.
